How JPG compression works
JPG uses lossy compression controlled by a quality value from 0 to 100. Lower quality means a smaller file but more visible artifacts. Rather than making you guess, PixelPress runs a binary search across quality values, encodes the image, checks the actual byte size, and keeps the best-looking version that fits under 100KB.
JPG vs WebP
If your destination accepts WebP, switching the output format often gives you the same 100KB at clearly higher quality, because WebP compresses more efficiently than JPG. Try both and compare the previews.
